A story that began
with Ajrakh

Malathi Silks began in 2019, with a single store opposite the Sree Poornathrayeesa Temple in Tripunithura. At its heart was Ajrakh — a textile tradition that shaped our earliest collections and went on to define the character of Malathi Silks. What followed was a wider exploration of India’s textile heritage: discovering distinctive weaves, prints and fabrics from across the country, and bringing them together through a distinctly Malathi point of view. Thoughtfully chosen. Deeply rooted. Made to remain relevant beyond seasons.

From Ajrakh,

How it began

From Ajrakh, a journey across India

Malathi Silks began in 2019 in Tripunithura, with Ajrakh at the heart of our earliest collections.

From the beginning, sourcing was never meant to happen from a distance. We travelled to textile regions across India, meeting printers, weavers and makers, understanding their work firsthand and selecting pieces directly at the source.

Those journeys gradually took us beyond Ajrakh — to Bagru, Sanganeri, Sungudi, Maheshwari, Chanderi, Narayanpet, Mangalagiri, Ikat, Kasavu and more.

Even today, travelling, discovering and sourcing directly remains an important part of how Malathi Silks builds its collections.

We go to the source, so what reaches you carries a story worth knowing.

Chosen with intention.

THE MALATHI PHILOSOPHY

Chosen with intention. Curated to endure.

At Malathi Silks, every collection begins with selection.

Our travels take us closer to the source — to the weavers, printers and textile traditions that give each fabric its character. From there, every piece is considered for its craftsmanship, colour, texture and individuality before it becomes part of the Malathi collection.

We do not believe in choosing simply because something is new, rare or trending. It has to feel distinctive, beautifully made and worthy of being carried forward.

This considered approach has shaped Malathi Silks from the very beginning — fewer compromises, thoughtful choices, and textiles with a story beyond the season.

“We don’t simply source textiles. We discover the ones we want to be remembered for.”

The Modal Silk suit set is my new favourite. So comfortable, so elegant — and I love knowing it was crafted by real artisans using traditional techniques.

Anita Sharma Bengaluru, Karnataka
"

Ordered a Kasavu saree for my daughter's wedding. It arrived beautifully packaged and the weave was exquisite. Guests kept asking where it was from all evening.

Deepa Menon Kottayam, Kerala
"

The Bandhani dupatta I picked up is unlike anything I've seen in Bangalore. Real resist-dye work, not printed. You can feel the difference instantly.

Rohini Pillai Bengaluru, Karnataka
"

Placed an order online and was nervous about buying textiles without touching them. But the fabric descriptions were so accurate — I wasn't disappointed at all.

Aishwarya Nambiar Chennai, Tamil Nadu
"

Bought a Kerala mundu set for my father. He refused to take it off. Said it reminded him of pieces from forty years ago. That says everything.
