OUR STORY

Rooted in Tripunithura Defined by Ajrakh

Malathi Silks began in 2019 with a single store opposite the Sree Poornathrayeesa Temple, Tripunithura.

Our journey started primarily with Ajrakh the craft that first shaped the identity of Malathi Silks and continues to remain at the heart of our story. What began with a deep appreciation for Ajrakh gradually evolved into a carefully curated destination for distinctive Indian textiles.

Over time, our collection expanded to include Bagru, Sanganeri, Sungudi, Maheshwari, Chanderi, Narayanpet, Mangalagiri, Ikat, Kasavu and more — each selected for its authenticity, artistry and timeless appeal.

As Malathi Silks continues to grow, our philosophy remains unchanged: to bring together exceptional Indian textiles with a refined and contemporary point of view.

“Ajrakh was where our story began — and thoughtful curation is what continues to define it.”

Our Story

Our craft philosophy

The Malathi Standard

Four promises that guide every piece we carry — from the artisan's workshop to your hands.

01

Sourced at the loom

We travel to the source — Ajrakh printers in Kutch, Sungudi weavers in Madurai, Kasavu craftspeople in Kerala. Every piece begins where it is made.

02

Chosen by hand

Every design is personally selected by Malathi. No intermediaries, no bulk orders — only what passes her exacting eye for quality, colour, and character.

03

Verified authentic

We carry only GI-certified and documented Indian crafts. Every heritage claim is verified at the source — never assumed, never unverified.

04

Craft over convenience

Handblock over digital. Natural dyes over chemical. Handloom over powerloom. We choose the slower, truer path — and always will.

What our customers say

Voices of the craft

"

The Ajrakh saree I ordered is absolutely stunning. The colours are so vibrant and the fabric feels luxurious. Malathi Silks really delivers on quality.

Priya Nair Ernakulam, Kerala
"

I visited the store during Onam and it felt like stepping into a textile museum. Every piece tells a story. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable too.

Meera Krishnan Thrissur, Kerala
"

The Modal Silk suit set is my new favourite. So comfortable, so elegant — and I love knowing it was crafted by real artisans using traditional techniques.

Anita Sharma Bengaluru, Karnataka
"

Ordered a Kasavu saree for my daughter's wedding. It arrived beautifully packaged and the weave was exquisite. Guests kept asking where it was from all evening.

Deepa Menon Kottayam, Kerala
"

The Bandhani dupatta I picked up is unlike anything I've seen in Bangalore. Real resist-dye work, not printed. You can feel the difference instantly.

Rohini Pillai Bengaluru, Karnataka
"

Placed an order online and was nervous about buying textiles without touching them. But the fabric descriptions were so accurate — I wasn't disappointed at all.

Aishwarya Nambiar Chennai, Tamil Nadu
"

Bought a Kerala mundu set for my father. He refused to take it off. Said it reminded him of pieces from forty years ago. That says everything.
